Questions You May Have
What if i still have some healthy teeth?
The 3on6 is generally used for people replacing all of their teeth, but we can also do partial mouth restoration if there are existing good teeth. Dr. Emett will make that determination during your consultation.
How long does the entire process take?
From consultation to your final set of teeth, the process typically takes 4-6 months. You’ll receive permanent, fixed teeth within 24 hours of surgery, with two temporary sets before your final zirconia restoration.
Does the 3 on 6 procedure hurt?
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, ensuring you feel little to no discomfort during surgery. Most patients report minimal pain during recovery, which is manageable with prescribed medication.
What is the healing time?
Healing occurs in phases—most patients feel normal after a few days, but full implant integration takes about 3 months before moving to the next stage of the process.
How much does 3 on 6 cost?
Pricing varies based on individual needs, but financing options are available with payments as low as $400/month. A personalized quote is provided during your free comprehensive exam.
Does insurance cover the 3 on 6 procedure?
Most dental insurance plans do not fully cover full-mouth implants, but we’ll help you explore coverage options and apply for financing with our trusted lending partners.
Are consultations really free?
Yes! Your consultation includes a comprehensive exam, 3D scans, and a personalized treatment plan—completely free of charge, with no obligation.
How do I know if I'm a candidate for 3 on 6?
It all starts with a consultation. During your consultation, we will take a 3D scan of your mouth and jaw called a CBCT. We will use this scan to determine if you have sufficient bone to receive implants for 3 on 6. At the end of your consultation, we will review the results with you and present their recommended treatment options.
How does 3 on 6 compare in pricing to other options?
While some patients save thousands over what other dentists have offered, 3 on 6 typically costs about the same as other full arch implant solutions. While the upfront cost of 3 on 6 is more expensive than options like a simple denture, the long-term costs of those options should also be considered. 3 on 6 has the lowest lifetime costs of nearly every dental teeth replacement option.
Is the procedure painful?
Our team makes sure that treatment is as comfortable as possible. A survey of 3 on 6 patients revealed that less than 10% reported feeling any pain on the day of their surgery. We offer general anesthesia with a dedicated anesthesiologist so you can sleep comfortably through the entire procedure and wake up with a beautiful new smile. Other options like IV or twilight sedation sometimes result in slightly higher reported levels of discomfort. We can help you find an option that will work for you.
What if there isn't a 3 on 6 provider near me?
Many patients travel to receive 3 on 6 treatment because it is a better option than what is available locally to them. Treatment can sometimes be completed in as few as two trips. We recommend giving us a call to find out what traveling for treatment to our office looks like.
What if I have severe bone loss?
Some patients have been told they don’t have enough bone for implants. Often the dentists giving this diagnosis do not have the skill and experience necessary to make such a determination. Many 3 on 6 patients were once told they didn’t have enough bone for implants.
In cases where there is legitimate significant bone loss, the patient may still be a candidate for 3 on 6 with the help of bone grafting or specialized zygomatic/pterygoid implants. For the minority of patients that don’t qualify, 3 on 6 providers can almost always offer a “next best” solution like the All-on-X.
Will I leave the surgery without teeth?
Absolutely not! You will leave the office the day of your 3 on 6 surgery with a beautiful new smile. During the time that the implants are healing you will have temporary bridges or in rare cases a removable option like a denture. Rest assured, you will never leave a 3 on 6 provider office without teeth in your mouth!
How long is the recovery?
Most patients feel good enough to return to work within a couple days after surgery. We will likely ask you to avoid strenuous physical activity for a week or two after the implants are placed. Implants generally require a 3-month healing period to fully integrate into the bone but patients can engage in standard activities during this time.
What is the difference between 3 on 6 and All-on-4?
The All-on-4 is classified as an FP3 restoration. It consists of a U-shaped denture that is permanently secured to four implants. It is sometimes the best option when there is severe bone loss.
Some drawbacks to the All-on-4 are that because of its size, it often requires removing bone and gums to create space for the prosthetic. It can trap food and the prosthetic should be removed periodically for cleanings and to prevent infection. In addition, the prosthetic reduces implant stimulation which can increase the chances of future bone and tissue loss.
The 3 on 6 is classified as an FP1 restoration. It uses three segmented bridges that are attached using six implants in an arch. Only the teeth are replaced so there are no fake acrylic gums, making it feel similar to having your natural teeth in your mouth again. Bone doesn’t have to be removed and the segmented bridges increases implant stimulation to protect against bone loss. In addition, the 3 on 6 does not need to be removed for cleanings or maintenance.
Can I finance my treatment with payments?
If you have good credit (score of 600 or higher), chances are you will qualify for financing. If you don’t have good credit, we may still be able to help you with payments, but will require a down payment and a steady income.
How do I know my 3 on 6 dentist is qualified?
Dr. Emett is listed as an official 3 on 6 Provider, so you can trust that he has completed specialized training and certification to perform the procedure to 3 on 6 standards. He has been evaluated for skill, knowledge, and commitment to the 3 on 6 treatment philosophy. In addition, his 3 on 6 cases are reviewed by our surgical planning team and his cases are prepared and delivered by the official 3 on 6 lab.
You can feel confident you’re in the hands of a professional who has met our rigorous training and quality standards.
Will my dental insurance pay for 3 on 6?
Whether they are in-network with your dental insurance or not, we can work with nearly all dental insurance companies to help you maximize your dental benefits for the work you receive. This often won’t cover the full cost of the procedure, but will contribute towards it.
Do I get to choose the design of the teeth?
We will work with you on getting the look of your teeth that you want. You can select the shade of your teeth and give input on the design, with the consideration that a long-lasting, healthy smile are given top priority.
How do I take care of my 3 on 6 smile?
Maintaining your 3 on 6 smile is similar to taking care of regular teeth. If you keep them clean they should last the rest of your life. We typically will instruct you to use a standard dental hygiene routine at home with brushing and flossing as necessary. We also may discourage you from flossing under the bridges if the tissue has sealed against the bridges.
Patients should also schedule regular dental cleanings every 6 months. The cleanings are standard and nothing has to be removed during these appointments. At home hygiene and regular dental visits are critical components of maintaining a 3 on 6 Limited Lifetime Guarantee.
Why should I avoid dentures?
Most people experience a gag reflex with dentures because it can feel like using a large plastic mouth guard. It can also cause oral irritation, speech problems, and reduce the ability to taste foods. In addition, glues to secure the denture are often ingested which is uncomfortable and unhealthy. Denture users also have restrictions on what they can eat with their denture.
Since dentures don’t provide any bone stimulation, the bone in your jaw continues to deteriorate. This changes the shape of your mouth, requiring the individual to replace their dentures every few years with a new fit. Dentures should be the last option for someone considering smile restoration.
What if I don't live near a 3 on 6 provider location?
Many patients travel to receive 3 on 6 treatment. Check with us if you’re considering to find out how many trips you might expect to complete treatment. The office manager at your location will also be happy to help you plan travel and lodging.
Will my medical insurance pay for 3 on 6?
Medical insurance coverage for dental implants is very rare. The process to try to get treatment covered can be complex, and depends on several factors, including your specific health insurance policy and whether the treatment is considered medically necessary. We recommend patients speak with their insurer if they believe they might be covered.
How does the 3 on 6 price compare to comparable treatments?
Our 3 on 6 patients often save thousands of dollars when compared to other comparable treatment plans. Because we specialize in dental implant treatment and have our own in-house lab, we can offer significant savings for this revolutionary procedure.
Is the procedure painful?
Our team makes sure that treatment is as pleasant as possible. We offer general anesthesia with a dedicated anesthesiologist if you’d prefer to just sleep through the entire procedure and wake up with a beautiful new smile. We may offer IV sedation or other options as well. Please check with us to consider your options. Similar to most trips to the dentist, you shouldn’t feel any pain during the procedure. While most patients have some level of pain in the week after surgery, most patients can manage it with over-the-counter Ibuprofen or Tylenol. Our office may also prescribe medication in case you have pain that can’t be managed with OTC medications.
How long is the recovery?
Most patients feel good enough to return to work within a couple days after surgery. After the implants are placed, you will generally require a 3-4 month healing period (on a soft foods diet) for the implants before your final restorations are placed.
Will I leave my surgery with no teeth?
Absolutely not! You will leave the office the day of surgery with a beautiful new smile. During the time that the implants are healing you will have temporary bridges or in rare cases a removable option like a denture. Rest assured, you will never leave a 3 on 6 provider office without teeth in your mouth!

How do I know if I'm a candidate?
During your consultation, you will receive a 3D scan of your mouth and jaw bones. The health and amount of bone you have will be very important to determine whether or not you are eligible for a 3 on 6. Dr. Emett will let you know during your consultation which procedures you are a candidate for.
What is the difference between the All-on-X and the 3 on 6?
The All-on-X is a larger, bulkier restoration that can feel unnatural in your mouth. Because of its size, it often requires removing bone to create space for it in your mouth. It is sometimes the best option when there is already severe bone loss.
Some drawbacks to the All-on-X is that it can trap food and should be removed periodically for cleanings and to prevent infection. It is also a single unit restoration which reduces implant stimulation and increases the chances of bone and tissue loss.
The 3 on 6 uses three segmented bridges that are attached using six implants in an arch. Only the teeth are replaced so there are no fake acrylic gums, making it feel similar to having your natural teeth in your mouth again. Bone doesn’t have to be removed and the six implants on segmented bridges increases implant stimulation to protect against bone loss. In addition, the 3 on 6 does not need to be removed for cleanings or maintenance.
Why shouldn't I just go with a denture?
Most people experience a gag reflex with dentures because it can feel like using a large plastic mouth guard. It can also cause irritation and pain, speech problems, and reduce the ability to taste foods. In addition, glues must be used to prevent the denture from slipping out. Some of the glue will be ingested which is uncomfortable and unhealthy. Denture users also must avoid certain foods.
Since dentures don’t provide any bone support, the bone in your jaw slowly deteriorates when you wear a denture. This changes the shape of your mouth, making it so that you’ll need to use more glue and eventually replace your dentures every few years. Dentures should be the last option for someone considering smile restoration.
How do I maintain a 3 on 6 smile?
Maintaining your new 3 on 6 smile will be similar to taking care of regular teeth. If you keep them clean they should last the rest of your life. You’ll still need to brush and floss, and we highly recommend the use of a waterflosser to help keep your implants and gums very clean.
Patients should schedule regular dental cleanings every 6 months. The cleanings are standard and nothing has to be removed. We also recommend you avoid smoking and drugs as these things can affect your bone density and implant longevity. A healthy diet and regular exercise will contribute to your dental and overall health.
